Reminiscence

The expansive installation, which was on display at the LWL Industrial Museum Glashütte Gernheim from the end of May to October 2023, was made from many wafer-thin glass bubbles.

The process is visible throughout, from the production of the material to the final performance. This presence of change inevitably raises questions about the value of our own actions and gives them greater meaning through meditative repetition. At the same time, the action refers to the original use of the former glassworks, evoking a sense of sweat and heat and making the toil of the task palpable.

When piled up as a sculpture, the individual pieces lose their meaning and the mass, in its otherness, becomes attractive. This allows for different associations depending on the viewing angle.
